Data policy

This policy covers commercial trading data submitted by participating restaurants — the data RMI treats as the most sensitive information on the platform.

Last updated September 2026

1. Ownership

Submitted trading data remains the participant’s data. RMI is granted the rights necessary to validate, standardise, anonymise and aggregate it for benchmark production.

2. Anonymisation and aggregation

Identity is separated from performance records used in aggregation. Benchmarks are calculated at comp-set level only, and a participant’s own data is excluded from its own comp-set benchmark.

Comp sets require a minimum number of participating restaurants drawn from multiple ownership groups, with limits on ownership concentration.

3. Suppression

Where thresholds are not met, the benchmark is suppressed and labelled as such. RMI does not substitute a wider market figure without disclosing the substitution.

4. Access controls

Benchmark calculations are performed server-side. Competitor-level records are never delivered to a user’s browser, and no client request can return an individual competitor’s trading data.

Access is role-based: restaurant managers see their own restaurant and its anonymous benchmark; executives and finance users see the portfolio; administrators manage users, restaurants and submissions. Access events are logged.

5. Retention and withdrawal

Trading data is retained to support historical benchmarking and restatement. A participant may withdraw from participation, after which their data is removed from forward benchmark production.

Previously published aggregates are not retrospectively withdrawn where doing so would compromise the integrity of historical market series, and never identify the withdrawing participant.

6. Third parties

RMI does not sell participant-level trading data. Institutional market products contain aggregated market measures only, subject to the same thresholds and suppression rules.
